Once Upon A Time

This picture was the first one I took when I got my phone in the mail. As you can see in the picture, I was very happy. It was the first time in months I was going to my Chinese store. As a reminder, I had my face mask, but other than that, in the words of Ice Cube, “It was a good day.”

My normal life before quarantine consisted of waking up at 6:30, walking with my mother, going to 7-Eleven, Dunkin Donuts and then school. When I get to school, I sit in my spot like I’m Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, unpack everything, prop my phone up and start watching Once Upon a Time. After school, I’d walk to the corner store and get an order of mozzarella sticks and an orange-vanilla Coca-Cola. I’d walk to the bus stop with my food, blasting something along the lines of Come Out and Play by Billie Eilish, Consequences by Camila Cabello, or FAR AWAY by Jessie Reyez from my airpods. This was before the dark times, before the Corona Virus quarantine. For anyone who doesn’t understand, that was a Star Wars reference.

Now, I just write stories, collect Coca-Cola bottles made from glass, and make playlists that are amazing, but my friends won’t listen to the songs because they all have horrible tastes when it comes to music. No offense. I still watch Once Upon a Time for two reasons. One reason is because of the jokes. The plot is too hard for a mere mortal to comprehend. I spent seven years trying to. That’s someone else’s problem now. The second reason why is because Once Upon a Time is better than all the recommendations people have given me, such as The Vampire Diaries, The Originals or Legacies. Another way my summer was affected by this whole Corona Virus is now my babysitting customers have to come to my house instead.

I said before that my day started at 6:30. In the words of JAY-Z, “allow me to reintroduce myself.” I used to be on a precise schedule. Now, when everyone else is waking up, I’m going to sleep after a long day demolishing my enemies as Iden Versio or Chewbacca on Star Wars Battlefront II. I go to bed now, thanks to this pandemic later than normal. All because I have too much time on my hands, which isn’t a bad thing, unless you don’t have anything to do. Like I said before, at least I was able to enjoy myself last summer. Now, I’m stuck home, doing nothing. There were a plethora of new movies set to release around this time; Mulan, A Quiet Place Part 2, The Personal History of David Copperfield, along with my personal favorites, Fast and the Furious 9, Wonder Woman 84, and Black Widow. Now, I spend my days in a proverbial tower, like I’m Princess Fiona from Shrek, listening to artists such as EMINEM, Jessie Reyez, Kenderick Lamar, J. Cole and the crown jewel to 6 of my playlists, Sam Cooke.

Over the past two months, my life has been quite simple: wake up when I want, eat when I want, exercise when I walk, and most importantly, sleep when I want. Going into this whole “quarantine,” I thought this was the most stupid thing that’s happened. It was like experiencing the Bubonic Plague, except it was in 2020. Now, it’s not as bad. Businesses are adapting, vaccines are being made, and as a personal plus, I don’t have to interact with ANYONE. Simply because I don’t like people. No offense. Seeing as everything is reopening, I sincerely ask the owners of CITYPLEX 12 to reopen! The social distancing is simple, just stay six feet away! I’m trying to see at least 3 movies before this year ends!!!
